Came for a Birmingham staple- the Taj lunch buffet- and was not disappointed! The staff here are so kind and provided great service. I enjoyed the food selection and of course the naan. It has been a while since I have been here but the food is still very good.
They have changed their location to a nicer area that has easier parking. The restaurant looks nice and bite more elevated than the old location.
I always feel like royalty when enjoying one of the Chef's Specials.

I’ve tried quite a few Indian places in Birmingham, and so far, this one is what I recommend to all my friends! This place is amazing. I normally get the lamb or chicken korma with a side of garlic naan—nutty, savory, with a hint of fruitiness from the raisins. The food always smells incredible, not to mention the portions given are very generous. I only ever get to-go so I can’t speak too much on that service-wise, but calling in is always easy and the food is always on time, hot and fresh.

As a foodie, I am always chasing great flavor. This place delivered. Every bite tasted authentic, and made with care. Easily one of the best Indian meals I've had in a long time. Finally went to Taj India after my friends recommended it!! Taj India's food is super good. I ended up getting the butter chicken because you can't go wrong with that dish! The butter chicken was so good and it paired perfectly with rice given. The service there was great. The staff were super nice and very attentive with their tables making sure that we had everything we needed. The food came out quicker than I expected, which is a plus. The ambience of the place is also very pleasant. The light is dimmed, which makes a place easy on the eye, and the tables are set up nicely. Lately, this has been my favorite restaurant in Birmingham! I have only been for the lunch buffet, though. The staff is always very friendly. I think I've tasted almost everything on the menu, and it is all delicious. There is a great selection, and everything is very fresh! My *one* wish would be for them to post the menu each day, or maybe have a set buffet menu for each day of the week. We love the new location! We prefer the lunch buffet because of the variety. The food is consistently good and they offer a wide selection of options. The only issue I have noticed is that the servers can be a little slow and they seem to run out of small bowls every time I’m there. Food- I opted out of choosing the buffet (it had an assorted choice of apps and both vegetarian and proteins available- chicken)  and ordered off the menu. Lamb Saag is my choice. The lamb was tender and flavorful. The spinach sauce had a pleasant kick to it. The Basmati rice was fluffy and delicious. The naan bread was mouth watering.
Service- oriented for buffet style- but accommodating.
Ambiance- Decorated in traditional Indian decor. 

Quantity- plenty of food off of menu. Buffet- speaks for itself. 
Value for your money- Yes

We are visiting friends in our old town and wanted some great Indian food, so we chose Taj India. We ordered many of their amazing dishes that were medium and high spice. Chicken and lamb -- they were all so delicious! We couldn't leave out the naan and garlic naan. This was a lot of food that was made at a good pace, so the service was great and we were all delighted with the flavors and quality of our food.

Ok if you know me, you know I love Taj India down. My family has been coming to this family owned and operated spot for all 30+ years. The lunch buffet might be my death row meal. It's a deal. And the food itself, you can eat a lot of without feeling gross and nasty like with other, greasier foods. 

The staff is on top of it. They bring you water and naan to your table, keep tabs on you, and always have a smile. Especially Fatima :). 

I've tried replicating a dal at my house, and I can't do it. I don't have the touch. But lentil dal here, the saag (spinach) paneer, and the yellow veggies they always have at the buffet (I think it's korma) are my favorites. 

I came last night for their Birmingham Restaurant Week deal, which was $14 for a full meal: appetizer, entree, and dessert! The appetizers for the full dinner meals come out like sizzling fajitas, my favorite of the meats we had was the lamb. My mom's entree came with a smiley face :). 

The place itself is pretty casual, with Indian decor and always a little incense burning by the door. They have a full bar, beer, and wine, but my mom swears that diet coke was made to be paired with Indian food.

Indian Food in the Magic City
Dinner two on Saturday evening. First visit to Taj India since relocation to Clairmont Avenue. Very easy parking. Clean well maintained dining room. Friendly, welcoming and professional staff all around. Very varied menu for drink and food. Traditional Indian items but many more not offered at other Indian restaurants in Birmingham Metro. Food came out fresh and piping hot. Everything was excellent. I especially enjoyed the chicken masaledar! Drinks, apps, entrees and desserts for under $70! Excellent quality, top value. The best Indian food we had in the USA !
We ate as a family at Taj India and it was really excellent! We had papadam with delicious sauces to start, and super tasty food for the main course. There was plenty of choice for everyone on the extensive but varied menu - vegetarian and also with different meats. The food was great! I discovered this place back in February of 21’. What amazing food right here. Presently they have Mon-Thur these lunch Thalia plates with a ton of really good entree choices. My daughter suggested this for dinner. The food was excellent. We got the butter chicken, tiki masala, and chicken badami. All were delicious and could be ordered from mild to medium spice. The service was exceptional. We got the gulab jamun for dessert after our waitress described it to us. It was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. EXCELLENT INDIAN CUISINE, REASONABLY PRICED Tucked in small strip mall near downtown Birmingham is a first-rate Indian restaurant called Taj India. It has been popular for over 30 years, and its longevity is justified. There’s a variety of appetizers offered, 15 in all, and a variety of freshly baked naan as well. Entrees include tandoori items (lamb is featured), vegetarian dishes, and an unusual Goan shrimp curry made with coconut milk. We would have liked to try one of their desserts, especially the saffron ice cream, but were too full; portions here are extremely generous. Full bar; attentive but non-intrusive service.
